Hand made cross stitched art is unique and affordable wall art.
For a long time people were embellishing their clothes and household items with hand embroideries.

Another sample of my work is about 11 years old and pattern was found in special edition magazine by “Burda”.

I agree, that cross stitching is time consuming craft, but it give you a surcease in your everyday crazy life.
I found this free and fun cross stitch text generator at Magic Robot Cross Stitch website.

So sit, stitch and enjoy!

Powder Room

Before renovation walls were covered with very dated wallpaper. But it wasn’t the problem.

Problem was that wallpaper was glued directly to the drywall panels. While removing the wallpaper walls were damaged and it was hard to make them smooth again, all imperfections were visible.
To hide that problem, we used a faux paint technique and it worked perfectly.

New tiles, counter top and light fixture were added to finish the look.

Roman Shades November 11, 2007

masha_kitchen_rdc.jpg

Roman shades are one of the most stylish and very efficient and practical way to add a touch of elegance to all of your windows.

Roman shades can be used as a standalone window treatment fitted outside the window or fitted inside the window recess and combined with curtains and top treatments for a layered look.

You can order Roman Shades to be custom made or you can do it yourself. I found very usable information:
Making Roman Blinds Instructions
on this website: http://www.alternative-windows.com/roman-blind.htm

I hope it will help you to make your own Roman Blinds.

Original Painting by Elena Filippova

I am a self taught artist. Sometimes I have desire to express myself in paintings.

And I use my paintings to decorate my house.

One day I’ve decided I need big painting for my wall. The size I wanted was 63″ x 63″.

I realized, that it would be extremely expensive to buy one of this size. So, I’ve painted it myself. I bought some canvas, wooden planks and with help of my husband, I build the frame and attached the canvas to it. Next – I covered it with primer. Than I just had fun for 6 months…

This is the painting I did for my living room.

So do not be afraid to try something you never done before. Just tell yourself that you can do it! And do it!

Long time ago I found this chair in the garbage. Fabric was old and dated , so I decided to reupholster it myself. Fabric choice wasn’t difficult, I already had draperies and pillows from same fabric.

It took me a while to take all staples out. I used old fabric parts as my template to cut new pieces of fabric.

It was my first experience with upholstery, I think I achived what I wanted.

I also added decorative pillow  with fringe.

Tea Cart

Hello everybody.

I love interior decor. And I love creative people!

I found this tea cart and took it home. Than I took it apart…. Guess what? It was in parts for about a year. Than I finally started to clean it, paint and look what I’ve created.
